Sahaj Marg Spirituality Foundation was incorporated for the purpose of
providing a means, whereby all interested persons seeking spirituality
in the Sahaj Marg system of Raja Yoga can come together in the name of
the Sahaj Marg Spirituality Foundation (SMSF) and its branches, for meditation,
and educational and research discussions
Consequently, this organization is organized in and functions in the
same manner as a non-denominational church for the purposes of furthering
the spread of, and education in, the field of spirituality. Specific (although
not exclusive) purposes of this organization are: to set up a spiritual
research institute in the United States to further education in the field
of spirituality worldwide; to spread the teachings of the Sahaj Marg system
of Raja Yoga, and to manage the foundation's property and assets which
have been donated in the furtherance of the above stated purposes.
No part of the net earnings of this organization shall inure to the benefit
of any Director, Officer, or any private individual (except that reasonable
compensation may be paid for services rendered to or for the organization
affecting one or more of its purposes), and no Director or Officer of
the SMSF, or any private individual shall be entitled to share in the
distribution of any of the corporate assets on dissolution of the organization.
No substantial part of the activities of the organization shall be the
carrying on of propaganda, or otherwise attempting, to influence legislation,
and the organization shall not participate in, or intervene in (including
the publication or distribution of statements) any political campaign
on behalf of any candidate for public office.
Not withstanding any of the above statements of purposes and powers,
this organization shall not, except to an unsubstantial degree, engage
in any activities or exercise or any powers that are not in furtherance
of the primary purposes of this organization.
The organization is organized pursuant to the Texas Non-Profit Corporation
Act and does not contemplate pecuniary gain or profit to the members thereof
and it is organized for nonprofit purposes.
Notwithstanding any other provisions of these Articles of Incorporation,
the organization shall not conduct or carry on any activities not permitted
to be conducted or carried on by an organization exempt from taxation
under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and its Regulations
as they now exist or as they may hereafter be amended, or by an organization,
contribution to which are deductible under Section 170 (c)(2) of the Internal
Revenue Code and Regulations as they now exist or as they may hereafter
